What are the credit score ranges?

Credit Score Ranges

Credit score ranges can be a little confusing. Depending on who is calculating it, what method they are using, and what range they operate in (like 300 to 850 or 350 to 800), your score might vary a little bit. If you want an idea of the basic credit report scores ranges, here they are:

  • 300-499: Bad
  • 500-580: Poor
  • 581-619: Fair
  • 620-679: Decent
  • 680-699: Good
  • 700 or Higher: Very Good
Now these numbers are not set in stone, but they will give you a basic idea of the ranges and what is considered a good credit score. When you request your information from all of the major credit reporting bureaus you will see what your credit report scores are across the board. These agencies use the same method of calculating the scores, but the range they use might be slightly different.

Once you see what your situation is you can come up with a strategy on how to raise your credit score if needed.
