June 29, 2007, Newsletter Issue #68: Free Credit Report Online with Credit Monitoring

Tip of the Week

Credit.com Tip: One way to make sure your identity hasn't been jeopardized is by obtaining a free credit report online each year. However, what happens after you've taken a look at your credit report and another year passes? That's where credit monitoring comes in. Many banks are now offering both a free credit report online, as well as free credit monitoring through the year. This means the bank will monitor the three credit agencies for any significant changes in your credit and then notify you. While this is another method in protecting yourself, be sure to read the fine print because some banks only offer free credit monitoring for a limited time and then charge you a monthly fee.
