Getting Your Credit Report

There are a few different options when it comes to getting a copy of your credit report. You can contact one or all three of the major credit reporting bureaus: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. You can either do this via the telephone, in writing through the Postal Service, or on the Internet at each company’s respective Web sites. Whichever of the above features you chose in obtaining a hard copy of your credit report, the document is mailed out within 15 days of the bureau's receipt of your request. If you do not want to wait and have access to a computer, you can get your credit report online instantly. Your other option would be to use a service like IdentityGuard® or similar companies that will request reports from all three agencies and put them into one file for you. The benefit of this method is that you can enroll in fraud and identity theft protection services that will get credit reports for you and offer credit monitoring as well.
